Salary

Hello everyone, I am brand new at this forum melarky so apolgise if everything gets in a twangle. I went to a job interview todayat a classy boutique. i was asked what starting salary i want. it has left me flumoxed, i don't know! i was expecting them to rent me a room. is there any complementary therapists out there who get paid a salary (as apposed to renting rooms etc.) that can advise? bear in mind i have only 6 months experience since graduating with HND comp ther.cheers very much xxx

I would look at the realistic rates for your age/experience. If you ask for too much you'll price yourself out of the market. If you ask for too little you might get the job but be annoyed that you're underpaid when you could get more!

Thank you for the advice but I had already considered the things you mentioned. My problem is I can't find out how much is too much or too little. None of my therapist friends get a salary, they rent roomsand I cannot find out what businesses and companies generally pay - apart from from one hotel. Ikind ofneed to know numbers, I've found out what the starting price is for an occupational therapist and many other professions but not the one I need!

It does seem unusual for this industry. Also, would it not depend on how many of what therapy, as different therapies have a different going rate...

The following link may be useful in giving a guide to what therapists can expect to earn. I had a little look under reflexologist, aromatherapists, a beauty therapists for example.

Even though they said salary, could you not put forward a proposal based on fee per treatment? Just a thought..
