Rosemary?

I normally use rosemary oil from Holland and Barrett for easing aches/pains, when looking to order one on line however I noticed three different kinds. Help, anyone know how to choose?

ROSEMARY (Rosmarinus officinalis ct *camphor)

ROSEMARY (Rosmarinus officinalis ct *cineole)

ROSEMARY VERBENONE (Rosmarinus officinalis ct verbenone

I'm just learning about aromatherapy atm.

Rosmarinus officinalis ct *camphor (1)
Rosmarinus officinalis ct cineole (2)
Rosmarinus officinalis ct verbenone (3)

Book I have ("Aromatherapy and A-Z" by Patricia Davis) states:
"Rosemary oil may be distilled from the flowering tips or the leaves, though an inferior oil is sometimes extracted from the whole plant".
"Like Thyme, this is a plant with quite variable chemistry, but typical examples would include camphor (1), borneol, pinene and cineole (2)...Some samples or wild Rosemary...there is a chemotype with mainly verbenone (3)"

So its referring to the chemical composition of the plant. All are Rosemary and all have the stimulating effect on the central nervous system.

It all suggests that the "verbenone variety is most effective for clearing catarrh, it is less stimulating than the others so is suitable to use in the evening".

Hi,
I feel that the rosemary from holland and barrett are not of great quality,i suggest you try purple flame which was recommended by my aromatherapy teacher.
The other Rosemary oils you mentioned i think have an added ingredient i'e camphor.(except the last one)
You need the purest form to get the best effect from the properties they hold.

Rosemary ct camphor - Rosmarinus officinalis ct camphor/ 1,8 cineole

On Aromatics International we have 2 rosemary oils. Rosemary ct camphor and Rosemary ct verbenone. Rosemary ct camphor creates circulation and warmth, soothing sore muscles, aches and pains. This specific Rosemary (camphor, 1,8 cineole chemotpype) is great for pain and muscle ache, especially when associated with a cold or flu.
