Reaction After Treatment

I had a new aromatherapy client the other day. It came up in the consultation that he had had a tonsilectomy 18 months ago and since then, every time he has had some sort of massage treatment, he has got a sore throat within 24 hours.

I said that I thought that this might be due to the stimulation of the lymphatic system and that the lymph nodes in his neck might be overloaded and that it was very important he drink lots of water.

He did this before and after the treatment I gave him (and for some hours afterwards) and still had a bad throat.

Does anyone have any ideas on this and how it can be alleviated?

Hi Aromababe,

Water is always the right thing to advise to clients IMHO.

In respect of the oils, did you use an oil to treat the aniticipated sore throat, say eucalyptus? If you did, he could just have a bit of a healing crisis.... Does he have any lingering infection in the area ? - eighteen months seems a good enough time to heal.

However, intuition wise, I feel that what you are dealing with here is a thought form which is stuck in the throat, he must have had really horrible throats for a long time before the op. as they don't do it much these days; so now, when he feels a little vulnerable about anything, he gets a sore throat, because that is now where his body expects to feel it. He has had several treatments before so knows it might bring up things he would rather not deal with. The throat chakra gets 'stuck' when words are left unsaid as well. Relationship problem in the last four years?

So, what to do?
If you think this is a straightforward medical thing, and his GP says his throat is ok, my best best bet, depending on the rest of the consult, would be Ravensara, Myrrh and Elemi to zap dead any lingering bugs [X(]and heal the area.

If you think there are emotional things here, I would go fro Frankincense (for those who dwell on the past), Rosewood ( to releive depression and uplift) and Mandarin (to connect to Source and Guardians and uplift). (Elemi does this as well).

All the stres oils would be good as well, Neroli, Lavender, Chamomile,etc, I'm sure you know them all.
