Question: Seraphim?

Hello All -

I am new new to the boards here - and I am beating my head against the wall w/ my MT teacher and the book they chose for us at MO College for Massage I. t012

"Introduction to Massage Therapy" by Mary Beth Braun & Stephanie Simonson is the book we have and in Ch. 3 they tell us to use a PDR to look up a bunch of drugs and describe what they are, side effects, and generic name.

Well, here's what I'm having a problem with - one of the drugs they want us to find is in the book, I kid you not, "Seraphim."

I've never heard of this drug, and neither has Yahoo Health or WebMD. A web search turned up angelical references, (which I already knew!) but no drug references.

Has anyone heard of this at all?

I'd appreciate the help, since I'm not finding anything on this at all that is a current drug. (Besides Seraphini which is a reference to dark chocolate.... )

I have heard of that before...the drug but can not for the life me tell you anything about it. I am going to do a little searching and let you know if I figure it out.

Close, but not quite.... that one's a fertility pill and supposedly, it's an anti-depressant, according to something a classmate of mine found in his all-night session in donig this over the weekend.

I'm finding allllllll sorts of interesting things (like HR Pufnstuf?!) when I do a search for "drug references." :

Ah-ha! The correct name is Sarafem. The FDA made the drug company change the name, it seems.... :roll:

Ok that explains why I heard it before...half my friends are on anti-depressants.

Serafem is just Prozac renamed and marketed to women (sera = selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, I think?). It's all fluoxetine.

Yup. At least according to our textbook they did.
