Question about Massage License Test

Is the exam for getting your license the same test in all states? I
am from Tennessee and I didn't know if they were all different or
what? Also, if they are the same test, what is the best study guide
book to get?

Every state determines which test they will use. Many but not all use the National Certification test. Your school should be able to give you the information concerning your particular state or perhaps if we have any posters from TN, they can enlighten you.

Hi,

There is a girl in my class right now who just moved from TN to NY and has to go back to school because the requirement for a New York license is different than in TN (more hrs for NY) also, she has already taken and passed the national exam after school in TN, but New York has it's own test with it's own requirements, so it would be different tests altogether.

Our state requires 750 hrs of classes...and we have to take a state board exam for our license instead of the national certification exam.If you get any of the massage mags - some of them will have a chart in the back showing each state's requirements and the licensing requirements for each state - whether they accept the nationals - or whether they have their own state board. I agree with Moogie...your school should be able to tell you what the licensing requirements are for your state.

That should tell you most of what you want to know. I THINK it was 500 Hrs and the national cert. exam, but I am not in TN, so I can't say for sure.
