Just trying to catch up with my aromatherpay home work:

If anyone could point me to a good book or website, i would be truly gratefull.

no 1)Explain how purity can be confirmed and chemo types?

no 2) What factors can effect the therapeutic qualities and purity of essential oil......

I have found the Shirley Price workbook quite good for this sort of question.

I am loving my aromatherapy course, which is nearly finished now. doing exams end of feb, so I have to get my head into the books and get my case studies finished asap.

for the 2nd part of your question, you could include how the oils are stored - brown bottles in the dark, no extremes of temperature etc.

for the first, is it that the oil should be bought from a reputable supplier who can supply certificates of authenticity and origin.

I am sorting thought my case studies now and I feel that my homecare advice is a bit boring ..just the usual baths and using diffusers. I always tend to recommend the oils that I know the client would be familiar with and easy to obtain.

As for putting the case studies off ..you are talking to the master

How purity can be confirmed and chemotypes?

By purchasing essential oils from a supplier that is a member of the ATC Aromatherapy Trades Council.

Many of these companies supply a GCMS analysis service for essential oils and extracts -these sheets list the chemotypes in a specific batch of oil - and some of them will check out their suppliers and the processes used in extraction and growth of the botanical source.

Factors that can effect the therapeutic qualities of essential oils - essential oils can be adulterated with oils that are cheaper to produce any oil can have other oils added to it and not only oils there may be chemicals as well. If you google adulteration of essential oils you will find quite a lot of material to be going on with.

Weather conditions can affect the quality of oils - bad weather conditions especially can produce a bad harvest.

Im busy doing my vr02 and vr74 which used to be called m74 m02. Did you know the certificate only last for three years so ive got a few updates to do!
