Gerry Pyves of the No Hands Massage is about to start another mini-tour of of his Protect Your Career seminars around the country. If you haven't been to one of these before I'd highly recomend them. There is a lot of information packed into the three hour seminar, what are the seven stages of injury, recognising them and most importantly recognising where you are within those stages.
The one piece of information that really shocked me when I went was this:
"Typists put 20 tonnes of force through their fingers every day (no bodyweight involved!). Most Massage therapists are putting over 60 tonnes of pressure through their wrists every massage!"
At the seminar you are shown some basic techniques at how to reduce these injuries, some very common sense ones - but common sense ones, I have found, are often the first to be forgotten.
Attending the seminar you will also get a free copy of either of the two No Hands books. I know some people can find Gerry a bit too enthusiastic, but the seminars really are worth it. They are also asking this year for practitioners to attend again so there will be some on hand for you to ask questions about afterwards should you so wish.
I'll be at the London seminar on the 24th October. Would be great to meet some of you there.
