Just thought that i would share my finger burn with every one and the proof that lavender does work on burns!
i did a silly thing and touched the handle of a chimnea that we are using to burn up old wood,no idea why i didnt think it would'nt be hotwell i ran it under the tap for ten mins and then applied Lavender oil reapplied it every 20 mins on gauze and the blister has gone and the sting.(i've never burnt myself before and had the oppertunity to use Lavender)so the proof is in the pudding so to speak! if you can remember ..through the pain of a burn try it it really does work. Hi Rayne,I can totally relate to this,I did something similar with the iron went straight for the lavender and no blister,scab or anything,not even sore.It looks awful and people wonder if it was sore well I felt nothing at all,it really does work

"Essential oils came to be mostly considered important as ingredients in fine perfumes and colognes. But fortunately, in 1928, right at a time when people were beginning to see some limits to chemical medicine and starting to search for natural remedies that worked, a French cosmetic chemist named Rene-Maurice Gattefosse (Ga-fo-say) was working in his family's perfume business and severely burned himself in an accident. He had third-degree burns covering his hand and forearm, and thrust his arm into the nearest vat of cold liquid to relieve the pain. The liquid was lavender oil. He was surprised to find his pain lessened and there was no redness, inflammation, or blistering. He realized that the lavender oil had begun to heal the burn and continued to use it. The burn healed without a trace of a scar. For Dr. Gattefosse, this began a lifetime of discovery for him learning about essential oils. He started with an analysis of lavender oil and continued analysing many other oils from various plants and parts of plants. He learned that the healing properties of plants originated in their essential oils. In 1937 he published a book about the anti-microbial effects of the oils, and published many others works over his lifetime. By studying this history we find how he coined the term "aromatherapy" and experimented throughout his life with therapeutic uses of oils. Much of his experimentation took place in military hospitals, where his results with essential oils were better then the conventional medicines of the time. This was the beginning of modern day aromatherapy. Others followed Gattefosse on the path of rediscovery with essential oils."

Hi Celia thanks for the nice post i knew i liked Rene when i was reading about him on my course..glad he had the vat of lavender there otherwise we may all be using something else, lavender is one of my favs along with frankincense,and all the others LOL.Also glad that i dont burn myself that often!Star it just looks like dry skin now and its less than 24hrs,i love it when things can be proved from mother!x Rayne
