Pressure Points

Afternoon All

I am interested to learn more on pressure points in the body. I have a back pain that I have previosly been told stems from my glutes. I found a pressure point there that when pressed is extremely painful.

I have been searching the internet for information, checked my massage books and haven't found anything on this yet. Can anyone give me any information please?

If you have tight glutes then get a good massage therapist to get in there with their elbows. It's very painful but works a treat. You start gently and gradually increase the pressure until it gives.

It is probably the sciatic nerve running through the periformis (sp) muscle you are detecting, this is quite common and can either cause pain to go down the leg or into the back or both, as Candie says a massage therapist will make short work of clearing this for you

Tell us some more about your condition the guys n girls on here are all v helpfull.
Its sometimes difficult to find someone who does deep massage and incorporates trigger point therapy because its very demanding on the therapist. best wishes steve

Hi Steve, whilst I agree with you that it is difficult to find a massage therapist who can do this I have to disagree that it is demanding. I actually find it less demanding than some other massage techniques as the therapist puts all their body weight through the arm and uses the elbow to get into the glutes. I thoroughly enjoy it actually!
