Polycystic ovaries and reflexology

Has anyone treated this condition. I'm interested to know what frequency of treatments have been recommended.

I would ideally like to treat this condition on a twice weekly basis in first half of cycle, but clients often can't make it that often (cost etc, ).

Any tips welcome.

Are you treating to increase fertility.....I would still only do once a week but thats just my opinion also do you know if she just has polycystic ovaries or if indeed she has polycystic ovarian syndrome?

Hi Tigerbee.

My client has polycystic ovaries. She has had 4 months of treatment with Clomid.
I saw her 2weeks ago and she had had ovulated 2 weeks before that!!
So I advised her to do a pregnancy test although she was positive she wasn't and treated her very conservatively with lots of mostly massage and relaxation techniques. She wanted reflexology as an aid to relaxation rather than just to help fertility.

She came again last week and had found she was pregnant!!

Not that I take any credit in the matter, but I was so pleased for her. She had felt very well and had slept much better after her first treatment and wants to continue.

I will continue to treat her for relaxation and although I dont think reflexology can cause any problems, will avoid the uterus and treat the endocrines and repro's gently.

Anyone got any case histories for polycystic ovaries and particularly with IVF?

I'd love to see case histories whatever outcomes on here as they are so helpful.

Perhaps we could have a Case history section.

Great News, I have had this twice now and it is sooooo wonderful to see there faces and experience the joy.

Now for clomid....there is evidence of a slightly higher miscarriage within the first dreaded 12 weeks the only other thing I would point out is that women with PCOS have an increased tendancy to diabetes in later life and this may also show later in her pregnancy post 28 weeks usually, so dont worry her about it now.

I had clomid for my first also have pcos and yep you guessed it got insulin dependant gestational diabetes but my boy is here and fine so thats all that matters...

Thanks for replying again. I'm so glad you had your baby successfully. Both my ladies have taken meds to help metabolize insulin, would that be? The pregnant lady stopped taking it a while ago as it made her ill. Still, I think they still test for sugar at pre-natal checks, although do you have to have the G. I. blood test for that? Does it help if you cut down on sugar during pregnancy? She had lost some weight through diet, which she said had helped her symptoms.

I take on board what you said about the increased risk of miscarriage during the early months, and will use 'kid gloves'.

My client is really shell shocked at the moment and seems very anxious, so lots of soothing and relaxation in order I think. When you have problems conceiving it makes the pregnancy more precious. I had problems conceiving (adhesions, not pcos) and an ectopic so I know quite a lot how it feels.

Update

My client has had a little bleeding today and is now on bed rest. I know this can occur but hope and pray she will be ok. I had this during my first pregnancy and it was so frightening especially when waiting so long.

They will dip stick test her urine, if anything shows up she will be offered a GCT and then depending on that result will depend on treatment, fortunately for most its usual with diet but it may turn out to need insulin (mine did), it is difficult to control the levels of insulin as you tend to need a lot more week on week because of the growing baby you are always trying to play catch up and not damage yourself or the baby further....it levels off after about week 36.. you should not have any sugars during pregnancy with the diabetes as this will throw out your levels...also watch out for excess carbs...

Yep i bleed with both of mine, quite a lot with the first one....would she have been due her period around now....also just as a note after a few days of the initial stage of bleeding they may be what appears to be another bleed but the blood will be browner this is where some of the blood is behind the uterus if that makes sense and can come dislodged on moving about etc....generally nothing to worry about.

They will normally scan you after about 6 weeks if you have bleeding as they can just detect the heartbeat then.

hello there,

i was just wondering about the polycystic ovaries, i have a client, well friend, who is infirtile at the moment and has just been told that she has this. is there anything i need to do differently when i give her reflex? so i still do the Purtity gland, as that releases hormones doesnt it? but thats what she doesnt need? or am i wrong. please could someone shed some light on this. i have a treatment with her tonite.

any other tips on how i should change the treatment would be gratefull received.

Assuming your client would like to get pregnant....you are trying to rebalance the hormones and aid natural maturity and release of the egg...increase the length of time of the ankle boogie at the meet and greet of the feet, pressure circles etc on all gynae points and hormone centres all else as normal...if you are treating her weekly you may find you can spot when she is ovulating. Has your friend been told she is infertile a lot of women do conceive naturally with PCOS (just takes them a bit longer), maintaining a good weight or losing weight will also help.
