Peppermint??

PEPPERMINT OIL IS SOMETIMES USED IN LABOR TO GET A WOMEN TO URINATE. THEY SPRAY IT ON HER REAR END AND THIGH AND THE FUMES
HELP HER TO RELEASE.

I WONDER IF THIS MAY HELP IN POTTY TRAINING BUT UNSURE HOW IT REALLY WORKS DO THE FUMES WORK THROUGH INHALATION OR RELEASE SOMETHING IN THE GENITALS.

WELL, IM GOING TO TRY IT OUT AND LET YOU GUYS KNOW.

I cant think of anything more awful than having peppermint eo sprayed on your bits when you are trying to get something the size of a melon out of your nether regions.
Where did you hear about this?
Although it is 10yrs since I had my daughter the one thing I do remember was getting up and down to go to the toilet - couldnt bloomin stop, the mid-wife nearly hooked me up to the moniter in the toilet she was that fed up with me (in the nicest way, she was lovely)

I would like to know a bit more about this if you have the time to post the info

I'm sure if peppermint was that stong of diaphorectic - then it would not be used as an essential oil!?

Well a friend of mine told me about it.. She lives in some distant village and they use it there.. However I am not sure if it is medically correct.. I am doing a bit research on it and will let you guys know if it useful

I would be interested to hear more about this, I wouldnt recommend it being used on childrens bottoms though - would be a bit too strong

There's no way I'd spary any essential oil on my child's bottom.

Peppermint would have a cold numbing effect.

Try it on yourself, and see if it works or not [&:]

Never did this in the maternity unit I worked in!!
I wouldn't want such a searching oil spraying on me either!! [&:]
Sorry but I don't think it's a good idea - from a midwife/ aromatherapist.

@vitiveria & urban_hippy. I dontintend to use it either but as i mentioned a distant friend of mine uses in hteir village. I did a lot of research and asked many aromatherapists but none of them would allow using it on a child however some did agree that it may be used in labor at some places.
