I took a really wonderful class in Pain Management Massage today at the Massage School of Santa Monica. It was taught by Oleg Bouimer. He is from the Ukraine and is a really great rehabilitation specialist and researcher with an impressive pedigree specializing in Russian Sports Massage. I was taking the class to find out better protocols for treating severe spasms of the neck and lower back. His approach is unique in it's brisk application of modalities (I tend to work slowly.) He really showed me a new way of approaching my work and I got a lot out of it. I wanted to share his website as I think he is a valuable resource to any working professional and I highly recommend him as a teacher. He'll be in Sarasota, Florida on December 12 and 13th teaching Russian Sports Massage for anyone nearby that wants to attend. You will really enjoy him and get a lot out of it.

Sounds like a great class! I occasionally see clients that are prone to recurring severe spasms, and it would be great to learn more about treating them.

It really was a great class! I really think you would like this guy Jason. Sounds like stuff you are really good at and have invested a lot of time learning. He made me really appreciate a way of working that I has not been a part of my regular routine and in the process inspired me and made me hungry for new approaches in rhythm and pacing as well as a greater respect for a sports oriented medical approach.

I may be an old dog but I really do love learning new tricks. I guess it's never too late!

Late reply I know, but I'm glad to find some feedback about Mr. Bouimer. I've been in e-mail contact with him since I've been wanting to take his class for quite some time now. It was just a matter of waiting for that perfect time where I have the money and there's a seminar close enough for me to drive to. I took a basic Russian class in school (which I believe was based on Boris Pultrusky's book) and I've always tended to have a fast-paced massage because of it. I can't wait to sign up!
