I was wondering if anyone had aany reaction when giving a massage to a client with a pace maker, i have a man who is in need of his neck and shoulder's being massaged and maybe his upper back, but am worried as he has a pace maker, i have tried checking for info but can not find much.
if i get permission from nurses at the hospice/ doctor it should be o.k.
but does massage effect these pace maker's does anyone have any experience in this?? any advise would be great. thnakyou
 
There is lots of info online regarding this, most say so long as you take care around the site and the client is in generally good health, it should be fine
 
I seem to remember that someone on here had the type which kicks in like a built in defibrillator, and getting into a deep relaxed state seemed to cause them a problem with it shocking them, but apart from that I personally have not encountered any problems with people who have pacemakers having a massage.
 
thanks for all your replies, i gave the man a massage with the advise of nurse at the hospice and he loved it and this week he cam back and asked for the same agin as he felt it made a difference, so he was very happy
