Overly Talkative Massage Therapist?

I saved a little money after every pay check so I could treat my self to a massage because I was very stressed. Well when I went in the massage therapist kept asking me questions about how I was able to afford a massage (I am 20 years old) I told her I worked and she kept asking questions about my job. It was making me even more stressed, after 30 minutes of what seemed to be an interrogation I pretended to fall asleep she still was asking questions and saying "okay? okay?" it was so annoying! I didn't leave her a tip and the woman at the front desk rolled her eyes. What can I do?

Don't request her again or ask for anyone but her, one. Two, ask to speak to the manager and tell it to them.

I'm with you. I'd rather not play 20 questions every time I'm getting a massage. I've come to escape and rest my mind.

Next time you go, when the therapist greets you and asks how you are doing mention that you are very tired and just want to relax. You might even want to yawn to emphasize the point. If this doesn't stop the interrogation just mumble or grunt a one word response to her questions and she will quiet down.

You might want to go to a different place next time. Sometimes you have to try many so you can compare and find one that works for you.

Ugh, I'm sorry. And I think it was quite rude for her to ask how you could afford it. For Goodness' sake, I'm 21 years old, go to school full-time and still bring home about $1,200 a month. And I'm sure you work just as hard as I do.

I would definitely bring it up with management, even though it's now said and done. Say you were very unhappy and found it quite rude. Maybe they'll even give you a refund? You never know.

I would call and ask to speak to the manager and tell them two things: First, that you were there to relax and the massage therapist kept yammering at you asking personal thing like how you could afford the massage, and second, when you opted not to leave a tip, the receptionist showed visible displeasure about it. Both, to you, being very unprofessional.

The receptionist shouldn't judge you if you did not leave a tip because she was not privy to your massage. And a tip is a gratuity for the quality of your experience, and you felt the quality was low. It's important to do this so you just aren't written off as some cheap child who doesn't know better. It's actually something that you feel will affect any repeat business.

If you plan to go to that salon again, be sure to make the appointment with another therapist.

If you do not wish to go there again, write a letter to the manager of the salon explaining your experience and saying how disappointed you were with this person. Then leave it at that.

Find another massage therapist!

One who understands, you are paying for peace and quiet. You work hard and want to spend your money relaxing. She apparently doesn't realize you are paying her to keep her mouth shut and silently take the stress of the week out of your muscles!

It's nothing personal, end the relationship, this is business!
