Ok, this is the place for those chairs found on eBay, at COSTCO, flea markets... wherever else you may have found a deal on a new chair! It's the place to discuss any chair with a brand name we might not be familiar with.

My first chair - I call it the little one - cost just $169 which included shipping and handling, and a carrying case! I got it on eBay at the BuyItNow price; the brand name is InStep.

It's a good, basic chair. Fairly lightweight, very compact in travel mode - no wheels, but easy to carry. It's easy to set up, too.

It is not very comfortable for larger clients, though - or anyone else with a large tummy - because the same bar that supports the seat also supports the chestplate and face cradle.

EarthGear / ENDURE?

has anyone tried EarthGear TravelPro Massage Chair or ENDURE Portable Massage Chair? Any comments?

I actually use the Travelpro. Not quite as expensive as the more popular, but it has proven itself during many massages. It looks like it would be flimsy but actually holds-up rather well. I was missing two of the crossframe end-caps. After calling the customer service line, I had replacements within 5 days at no cost. It is lightweight, comes with a nice case, and has wheels. Most of the problems that I have seen come with getting it back into the case. Takes a bit of practice. Not a bad chair.

I purchased the NRG chair package off of massagewarehouse.com. It was $199 and came with the chair, a chair massage dvd, and some face cradle covers. Really, I just wanted the chair, lol.

I've used it at a few events now and I like it! It's pretty light weight and sturdy, it has boob cut-outs for the ladies on the chest plate and is pretty easy to adjust. The material it is covered in is nice and high quality too. My only beef is that the chair nor the case came with wheels so it can be kind of a pain to move...but I"m just lazy.

Recently I've gone to a few events where chairs were provided and the chairs being used were all earthlite chairs...not sure of the model. But they were pretty cheesy....the screws for the head piece on almost all of the chairs were coming out of the wood panel they were screwed into...totally stripped. I also did not like the way they folded up, and they seemed a bit heavier than my chair. I did like the softness in the material covering the chair however.

I have the Earthlite Travelpro. I'm not overly fond of it. It's difficult to get it set the way I like it, possible to put the seat on backwards (not a very well-made seat, either), one of the screws to the face cradle stripped out during set-up on the third event I used it for, and the chest-pad part decided to adjust itself in the middle of a massage (more than once). Also, if you use a decent amount of pressure, it will occassionally try to tip over forward...had the back legs lifted off the floor a couple of times. As was said before, it is hard to get back in the case until you get the hang of it. And it wasn't cheap...ran about $300. It serves it's purpose, I suppose, but if I ever buy another massage chair, it will definitely be a different kind. I would like to find the same kind I learned on in school...easy to set up, no bounce, seemed to be very well-made. It was an Oakworks Portal Pro.

my favorite is the dolphin. although i don't use massage chairs anymore, i found that this chair was extremely light weight and easy to use. i also loved the versatility of being able to position the client prone.

In-Step

As part of our reflexology, we offer back reflexology done in a massage chair. So I purchased the In-Step from Amazon dot com. It's a nice little chair and more adjustable than I thought it would be. The instructions that came with the chair leaves a lot to be desired though. There was exactly one single sided page that only told a few basics on setting the chair up. I did have to hunt on goggle to get more in depth instructions from other chair owners.

I have to agree with what the OP said about those with large stomachs though. It is slightly uncomfortable but not over so and the chest plate does slide up and down to add to the comfort.

I would like the seat to be either a little larger or perhaps a different shape for those of us that have a little extra padding. But a simple change in design would also fix the issue.

As noted before, the chest plate slides up and down the center support. The face cradle also raises and lowers as well as adjusting front and back.
The arm rest can easily be lowered or raised to a comfortable height. The seat adjustment is the only one that I would have an issue with as the higher it goes, the more forward it tilts. While I have not had anyone small enough on my chair for me to need to adjust the seat, it makes me think that the tilt will slide the client far enough forward that their pelvic/pubic area would rest on the center support, which would not be comfortable to say the least.

All in all it is a good little chair for $140 and I do not regret my purchase at all, although I do look at this as my "beginner" chair and will eventually (think 2 or 3 years down the road) invest in a better chair.

Not really sure of the actual "brand", but that chair looks a LOT like the one Dh bought after a big all-day gig where the company provided the chairs and sold them afterwards to anyone who wanted to buy them. He paid $50 for it. It was a decent chair, for a few months. It is decidedly *broken*, though, and ... was very awkward and hard to get around and to adjust. Now, I don't "know for sure" whether the chair in that auction is the same brand or level of quality as the one we had. I guess for $50-ish, you wouldn't be "out" too much if you got it and didn't find it worth the money. I would *definitely* check over the seller's return policy before bidding, though.

While on this topic, we have an EarthLite TravelPro chair. He loves it; I ... don't. I have a VERY hard time adjusting it-- almost every place to adjust it, you have to squeeze in those little tabs, and my fingers just aren't that strong. I feel like a clumsy dork trying to set it up and adjust it. We've been discussing getting a second chair (especially if we start marketing for corporate chair gigs, which he'd always said he did NOT want to do but is now re-thinking it), and I definitely do NOT want another like the one we have! I like the look of the Portal Pro 3, but he says it's too expensive for our budget right now. We'll be down by Body Logic later this week for a seminar; I want to take some time to go in and check out the chairs they have while we're down there and see if I can find something I can "fall in love with".
