Order of the Sciences?

It just seems like my school has them a bit out of order. We have started with Kinesiology and then will do A & P then do Pathology. I am really having a hard time with not knowing what the heck they are talking about when we are supposed to be learning how things move I have little to no knowledge about what things are called. On the positive side by the time we get to A&P I should know where everything is.

How are other schools set up to go through the science classes?

Welcome to MassagePlanetL purplefrog26! Where are you attending school? I'm currently in Madison visiting my sister.
I attended MT school here in Madison (nearly 9 years ago) @ what was then Capri College on Odana Road (the building now houses Martin's School of Hair Design). I was surprised the other day to find that East/West is in the same neighborhood as is Lakeside's Madison Campus (also on Odana Road).
I know MassagePlanetL has 2 or 3 Lakeside-Madison graduates, but am not aware if we have any Blue Sky or East/West grads or students.

Yeah, I agree... that is backwards... I would definitely complain to the administration. I took Kinesiology in my masters program for physical therapy, now that was a tough course. I didn't challenge out of the one in MT school just as a review, I thought it was a joke compared to the one I had previously taken, but there were a lot of students who struggled through it, and that is even after we had taken A&P, Deep Tissue and palpation class...

Thanks for the welcome. I am going to TIBIA. It's run by one of the founders of A Spirit Touch that was bought out by Blue Sky a couple of yrs ago. I like that it's really small and that there is a major focus on energy work. However they have a new science teacher that is in the middle of revising the coursework and it's a bit challenging.

Hi! Welcome to MassagePlanet! I went to Lakeside School of Massage Therapy in Madison. We started right in on A&P and Kinesiology, all at once in the first quarter! It was a bit overwhelming at first, but just keep plugging through it - it all starts to make sense, then studying gets much easier. You are learning a whole new language (Latin terminology)!

My only frustration was that the kines. class was one and a half quarters long - they could have very easily stretched it to at LEAST two full quarters, and I would have felt like I understood it more thoroughly. I still think that (but nobody asks me, lol), but the nice thing is you own the book - you can always go back and look things up, and as you need the information to put it to use, it will be further cemented in your brain. School is just an "intro to kines" - the real lessons and fuller learning come with the every day work of massage.

We did A&P and Kinesiology at the same time and then will be doing pathology.

I am going to Lakeside in Milwaukee, and I totally agree - it would have been nice to have kinesiology spread out a bit. Thankfully I have successfully finished both A&P and Kinesiology and am just starting my third quarter on Monday!

Hi, Michelle! School gets really fun in the 3rd & 4th quarters! Enjoy! It is really nice to have kines out of the way! The studying is a bit less intense - not so much memorization - and you get to start using what you know in site specific work. It's fun!!

Thats the perfect order actually. Kinesiology in most schools means muscles, and perhaps some joints thrown in.
As long as you are getting the bony landmarks taught fully and correctly it will work. If the bony landmarks were to be taught in A&P... well that's not the right order.
Pathology should always be after A&P, and that means last.
