hi all,has anyone ever marketed themselves to resturants for possible on-site accounts. not for the resturant customers but the staff waiters, bussers, kitchen staff - chefs, dishwashers.before becoming a massage therapist i worked in the resturant business for many years and after brainstorming for some marketing ideas  for my practice it dawned on me this might be a road to venture.just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience or thoughts on the idea.i know i would haved loved a nice  massage at the end of a long double shift back in the day ;Dthanks jenn

I have thought about it, to me it seems it would be a difficult thing to do.1. not everyone gets off at the same time in a resturant2.When a resturant closes, most employees want to get out of there as quick as possible,harldy anyone wants to be held up for another hour to close and lock the door.3.where i live, resturant close around 10:30-11:00pm. The hours would be late. considering that you would have to wait for sections to clear up and customers to leave before you could set up.It would look weird to see the staff get massaged while still eating dinner.I think a better alternative would to find a bar or club that caters to the service industry late night...if you live in a big city some bars actually has a service industry night, but i'm not sure how ethical it would be doing massage in a bar or club.

hi nolai was thinking about setting up my chair out of site of the resturants patrons, if an area was available. and also try to schedule a time slot in between shift where you have staff members coming and going. those starting a new shift would recieve energizing massage and those finishing a long shift would recieve a relaxing, muscle soothing massage (i'd basically be using the pre and post event theory) i my minds eye the resturant where i use to work would have been ideal for this kind of setup, but i no longer live in the area. anyway just  throwing some ideas around in general i still think it might be a good target clientiel.thanks for your input and i'll keep you posted.jenn

This is slightly off topic from the original post but I think still relevant. Here in Boston we have a nightclub called Felt, they started last fall offering guests manicures and massages. The nightclub is on several floors and they set aside one part of it as a quiet zone and then hired some nail artists and MT's to come in on special nights. The "spa services" are complimentary. This bar concept is becoming very popular with nails - massage is new to me.  It's primarily done during happy hour (after work).  The nail service attracts women and women attract men.  The bar makes more overall.  Perhaps, the addition of massage is geared more towards the male clientele.  Although if I was still single, I certainly wouldn't want to be walking around a bar with cradle face and hair every which way!  After all, they are trying to meet someone, no? I don't know if everyone that goes to a club is looking for someone, but yeah - it is geared toward the happy hour crowd.
