Wanted to say I havn't watched CBC anything since prior to covid and no Olympics for me for I am going to say 20 years? The politics, "roids and blood doping made it a farce.
After hearing the firestorm of backlash about the opening ceremonies, had to take a peek on u-tube. Reached a new low! Absolutely embarrassing! Glad I stopped watching this crap years ago.
Wonder what they got planned for closing ceremonies? Hope the sponsors and networks lose everything.... I mean everything $

I never watched any of it, except for tid bits of streamed video on u tube. I don't think the alphabet crowd will be able to walk this back.
The backlash is growing in momentum.
Couldn't care a less what they do behind closed doors as long as it doesn't involve children or animals. Are they still looking for attention? Always trying to shove it in someone's face.
Very sick of the Olympic BS. Paris will be kept hopping with all the vandalism during this gong show!

I am not religious at all...I fully support Trans rights and I am not afraid of rainbow sidewalks but it appeared to me that they were making fun of someones religion. i certainly don't support that.
I haven't drilled down enough to have read the press releases or if indeed that was the intent but it sure didn't pass the first look.

I would like to update my previous statement . I did find time to drill down on the "last supper" controversy.
The claim trending that this was an attack on christianity looks false.

The Paris Olympic committee has stated this was not the last supper. it was a tribute to inclusivity using the greek god Dionysus /Roman god Bacchus based on the painting "feast of the gods"...not "the last supper"...this passes the sniff test for me.
Included in the painting and in the paris opening ceremony was a god laying in front of the table eating (Dionysius), god with the halo, trident. and if you look at the line up of the people at the table. it is almost exact to the "feast of the gods" painting and nothing like the "last supper".

if you still have doubts, pulled up the 3 images .
I for one have changed my mind on this.
