My journey is officially on its way!!! I've been trying to get into school for almost 10 years but finances have been an issue. FINALLY I AM ABLE TO SAY I AM OFFICIALLY A STUDENT OF MASSAGE!!! YAY!!! t041 : :

I felt this rush of emotion and relief when I handed over the cash down payment for school on Friday (Orientation day). My admissions director actually cried because she knows how long this journey has been. Anywho...tomorrow is the first official day of classes (I'll be there all day 9a-530p on M & W). I am so excited! I'm prayerful that the excitement will last given the fact that it's been years since I've been in school formally. YIKES!

I'll check back in to let ya'll know how it all went. t007

Ok so...

Oh, I know that feeling of excitement! Not just from massage school, but also on the waiting for 10 years part (well, almost ten years)- I signed up for an herbal certification course about 7 years ago and for various reasons have had to lay it down for a very long time- I have just this month officially "begun this journey again"! Congratulations, BLESS! I wish you well in your studies.

VERY exciting! I remember that day for myself as well. I thought I would never know what I was going to do 'when I grew up'. Once I honed in on it, I was driven and it was as you described like a great relief!

The first day went really well, albeit exhausting! t015 Soon as I got home, I went to sleep! : I wasn't fully prepared for the in depth learning of Anatomy & Physiology. I mean I kindda figured it would just be learning the names of the bones and muscles and how they work. I sooooooo didn't expect to have to learn different parts of the specific bones too. I'll most definitely have to find a skeleton to purchase so I can have one here to study at my leisure. I'd love to find one where the bones come apart and I can reassemble. Any suggestions? All in all, I must say I LOVE IT STILL!!!

Congratulations on starting!! I remember how, just a bit more than 2 years ago when I started and how excited I was. May the excitement last throughout the whole process for you - it did for me!

Ok so...

What a wonderful & exciting time for you!

My best advice is really just soak up all of it.... everything you can learn from your teachers, your classmates, your hands, your practice clients. It is definitely overwhelming, so much to take in. Keep in mind that you will be learning through the rest of your practice. You might hear something in class that doesn't even register into your brain, then around your 50th or 100th or 1,000th massage, it clicks in & you have an aHa! moment. Hopefully, many of those....

& on learning bony landmarks... it's a lot now, but you'll see... learn them well, and learning your muscle attachments will be a breeze & your confidence in your palpation skills will soar.
