Oil Burners

Can anyone recommend me inexpensive yet decent oil burners. I am new to aromatherapy.

or all they all the same thing with different names?

My favourite is the oil burner. That is a ceramic burner with water heated up by a night light into which you place your essential oils. I haven't tried a diffuser which are quite popular. it works, is simple and needs no electricity and that's fine for me.

Hey guys, on the subject of oil burners - I love using them but they tend to get gooey brown stuff at the top after use which I find hard to clean - any tips on how to stop or clean this?

I got all mine from the Body Shop..they are metal so you don't have to worry about the dishes cracking when you add water, and inexpensive too!

I have been using candles, i.e. burning a candle for about 10 minutes and adding oils to the melted wax then continue burning the candle. Probably not the best way.

I will try getting an oil burner.

I figured it out - I let it soak with water and bread soda on top for a day and the goo came off easily. yippeee

I just use washing-up liquid in mine...I put it in neat at first and scrub around, then rinse.

I use a wee bit of neat lavender oil to get rid of all the gooey stuff! Works a treat!

citrus oils are the ones to go "gooee" the most

Hiya Stardust, just see this thread tonight. I use lots of Patchouli oil in my oil burner and it is so gunky and sticky and yuk (but smells great!). I have used bread soda too or even a little hand washing powder and hot water and leave it on draining board etc. overnight. Next day it just comes off. I keep a separate kitchen sponge to clean this and it works a treat!
