Good news. He did sign with his hometown Leafs. Playing on the second line behind Matthews will most definitely give other teams just too much to handle.

This team has finally turned the corner after decades of heartbreak. And it all started with Brendan Shanahan. He's the guy that started to get the ball rolling. He's doing a great job of bringing quality people to this team.

Not a chance SBJ! Matthews spoke to Tavares during the interview phase and he is super excited for him. The only player that might get traded if Leafs want a stud Dman is Nylander although I am 100% against it.

Chicago won cups with Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook all with big contracts. Penguins had 2 big centers with Crosby and Malkin and they won a bunch. And now we have 3 stud centers in Matthews, Tavares and Kadri. We just need 1 more Dman like Karlsson and voala the cup is ours!

No, just the opposite. Matthews is estatic about this. Matthews and Tavares will center on 2 different lines and all the other teams best players won't know which line to play against. This will make it easier for Matthews to line up against the other teams weaker players. Matthews, Marner, and Babcock were featured in the video that the Leafs sent to Tavares in their presentation to bring him to their team. I believe all 3 of them talked to him personally as well. Matthews no doubt, is the number 1 guy.
