Ocular Hypertension

Does anyone know if I can perform a facial massage on someone with ocular hypertension? It is not mentioned in my Pathology A-Z book, so my instinct would be to just avoid the obicularis oculi area, and treat as a local contraindication.

Just had a look in my Massage Therapists Guide to Pathology book, it doesn't describe Ocular Hypertension, but has the following note for Hypertension in general:

"If a client does take medications for high blood pressure, circulatory modalities are strongly cautioned."

On a side note, I highly recommend the book as a reference guide.

Ocular hypertension is similar to glaucoma - raised intra ocular pressure in the eye which if untreated can lead eventually to blindness. It would be absolutely fine to do a massage on this client

ooh me again - forgot to say that this condition is nothing to do with hypertension ie raised blood pressure

Thank you. I avoided working directly around the obicularis oculi area just in case. It's always interesting to come across conditions you have never seen before.
