No massage qualification needed for mobile massage agencies?

Hey there!

I've been doing some looking into agencies to possibly work with as a mobile therapist.

I have noticed that some agencies say that in order to apply, you don't need a massage qualification to work for them as a mobile massage therapist - some offer some training... Or maybe tis was the impression I got from them.

Is this a good or bad thing? And for anyone who does work in a mobile massage agency, do you have insurance and preparation?

What are your thoughts on not having a massage qualification and agencies who accept it?

Hi

I would be really wary of dealing with an agency that didn't require you to have qualifications and insurance. I work with three different agencies and they all require qualifications and insurance. They may be ok, but I don't think I would work for them. Check them out though, maybe do a mystery shopper kind of thing and check one of them out to see how good their therapists are. Where are you located.

I've heard of some mobile massage agencies who offer chair/ IHM massage in pubs and clubs - if I remember correctly they don't require formal qualifications. There's been some discussion on here [I think] about the ethics involved in massaging people who've consumed alcohol. As it's a contraindication to massage. I think they teach you a routine which you perform for every massage. I wonder what their insurance is like if they don't have qualified therapists?

Return to Glory do need your qualifications, they need you to upload them onto their website - the actual certificates that is - before you can work for them.

Yes you are right you don't have to have a massage qualification to work with those companies that offer 5 minute or so IHM in pubs and clubs. In a previous post I mentioned I had an interview with one of them. The guy was more interested in knowing how good I was at selling the fact that I was a qualified therapist was secondary.

Proper mobile massage companies will require you to be qualified and have your own insurance.

I would make the assumption that any mobile massage agency offering full massage treatments from therapists without qualifications would be a cover for adutlt services.
