Does the NY Bar still exist? If so, where is it? I can't seem to find it on any of the maps or lists. If it does not exist, is there another bar type place that that has chicas maduras? Thanks, SG

Not sure about total numbers but I always go in the NYB. If you are there early 6 to 9 you can sometimes and I emphasis somtimes find a gem.

Plus I always like to have a drink with the bartenders

i used to like sitting at the sidewalk overlook.

anyway, it was a change from the Del Rey and close enough that one could wander back and forth.

the midday crowd is a bunch of old timer gringos that have a lot of great stories and info about costa rica.

i liked the NYB.

good place to visit for a change of pace from the Del Rey.

i remember VB walking by one afternoon when RCB was at the sidewalk rail having a drink while overlooking the street traffic.

VB looked up and told RCB "you got to stop visiting those low rent joints"

On a serious note .........dark clubhouse for Costa rica old timers...not a bad bunch of guys :shock: ....this is not a place to exit with abandon late at night due to its location and elevation

Every time I've ever visited the NYB, it has been virtually deserted, except for the evening that Bilko and Mike were making joyful noise (guitar, vocals, backing tracks) at approx. 140 dB. I have met working girls in there...nervous, wired, unfortunate, bad attitude and I presume, ugly.

That being said, the burgers are good, a small tip to any employee other than the stuck-up bartendresses yields nice service, and the bar is mas o menos limpio. Nice overlook to the sidewalk too, particularly if you enjoy watching people wait for a bus. :roll:
