Hi,
Im putting this post in here in the hope of getting a more informed and detailed response than just another course thread. Been a lurker but not a poster.
Anyway first thing I should mention is im based in Ireland and looking at courses over here (I posted on boards.ie but got limited response and there doesnt seem to be a relevant Ireish forum). So anyway here goes....
First some background - im a qualified accountant (ACA) with a degree in business. I'm working in practice and doing well for myself having recently been offered a partnership in the firm. However, this got me thinking and I really dont seee myself doing it forever. Its a good job and im glad I have it and get paid well enough. However i've no real passion for it and find it a real chore over the last 2 years.
Anyway I got thinking about what i really want to do and I think thats to become a physical/sports therapist. So im 27, getting married next year and want to keep up my current job in the mean time. I cannot afford to go back studying full time.
Anyway im thinking of doing this course here in Ireland. Anyone any thoughts on it?
I have concerns though in that I dont want to shell out โฌ3k+ and to not feel fully competent. Its only a 15month course. Although there is an option to do 30 months after that too for a H.Dip. My own therapist did the course and seems very competent and knowledgeable which is encouraging. I ve spoken to her and she has been very encouraging and told me its hard work but that if its what i want to go for it.
There is also a 3 year part time course with IPTAS but that would involve a significant outlay (โฌ12k) over the 3 years.
I suppose i'm favouring the neuromuscular course as it is lower risk but i guess im afriad it may be cutting corners a little. I guess I feel i'd like to do the 15months - see how much I like it and if i feel confident and see if i can get a small evening and weekend client base going (tough i know), then take it from there.
Any advice or thoughts appreciated. I'm far too practical for my own good and wish i could just book the course now and spend the money as I dont think i can stick accountancy forever.
Thanks in advance,
Brian
