My Facebook chat won't tell me if my friends are online?

Basically, a while ago I created a friends group on Facebook, which includes a few of my friends and shows up on my Facebook chat list of who is online. I made myself available to only that group on Facebook chat, and then decided that I didn't want it any more, because I'm not close to a lot of the people any more and thought I'd make a new friendship group. None of the people in this group were online at the time, and I went to the "edit friends" section and deleted the group. Now, my facebook says that I permanently have no friends online, even though I am now available to everyone and I'm pretty sure that there are people online.

I have made a new friendship group now, and tried to make myself online to only them but this doesn't solve the problem and I am still just offline to everyone, basically.

Why has this happened, can I fix it, or have I messed up my Facebook now? Thanks for any help.
 
I have no idea about what happens with that, sorry. But one thing, I guess your chat list is still the old one (because you say "I made myself available to only that group on Facebook chat"), where the new one is completely different. They no longer have any grouping like that, it's just plain list of people. This new chat list has been there for quite a long time. So maybe your problem has something to do with your 'un-updated' chat list. Facebook may update it soon I guess.
