Mimosa - how to melt it?

I'm a home-dabbler with a reasonable selection of oils, but when i ordered Mimosa, I didn't expect to receive a little jar with what looks like a blob of solid amber toffee in the bottom. Consequently I just don't know how to turn it into a liquid and cannot find any information on the web. Any advice please?

I had the same happen to me when I bought Helichrysum from a different supplier. A little pot of amber gloop and not what I was used to. I didn't think it was going to be economical for me using it like that and wondered if constantly warming it would spoil the oil so returned it to them and had a refund instead! I have since bought it in oil form from another place.

I've got some sandalwood that is the same too. I've not yet figured out how to pour it

What did you order - the oil or an extract? An oil should melt. What does it smell like? Would it soften with the addition of oil?

If it is very solid, it could be the Acacia gum or Gum Arabic which is resin from the same family as mimosa, in which case it may not be usable in aromatherapy. Just a stab in the dark. You could ask the suppliers.

Now that I've looked at the pricelist, I did, in fact order the solid form as this was the only option for Mimosa. I bought it from "Essentially Oils", and I thought at the time that if Mimosa came in other forms, then they would be the ones to stock it. As you probably all know, EO no longer trades, so no chance of returning/asking advice. Will think about melting options and let you know of my success/failure. Serious question: what purpose does the solid version of any oil have? (Wish I'd asked myself that question at the time!)

A few years ago I was given a bottle of frangipani in solid form.The person who gave it to me said to place it near a radiator to warm it which would then make it pourable. Once I had done this I poured some in an empty, clean jar. Although it solidified again quite quickly I found that when I scooped some out it did "melt" in my hands.

The smell is absolutely divine and it's only for personal use, I don't use it on aromatherapy clients.
