Massage Training Advice - Help!!

Hello Everyone, I've just registered so this is all new to me!
I've completed an NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy course, part of which includes Anatomy & Physiology. I would like to enrol on a general body massage course but I'm not sure if the A&P element of my NVQ2 in Beauty is enough to qualify me onto a massage course. ITEC, for example, want NVQ level 3 minimum in A&P. Can anyone advise on whether I need to do a separate A&P course before going on to general massage at a recognised qualified level to practise professionally & also, can anyone recommend a good training centre. I'm based in South East London / North Kent borders. Thank you!!

Hi!
I think you need to contact your local colleges and see. I know that body massage at the college I attend doesn't requre A&P whereas reflexology does. Also, sometimes they let you run the two alongside each other if you need to do it. I do think however that having a&p is beneficial as you can understand so much more while learning massage rather than having to split your time.

Thanks Claire for the info - you are my first reply!!! I really like the A&P anyway, but I just thought that if I'd covered it in NVQ 2, I might not need to do it again. I'll defintely check out the colleges - thank you for your help.x

Last year I qualified in the ITEC Holistic Massage level 3 with A&P. I got onto this course with no prior qualifications or training at all. The only thing I had to do was an Interview. Now I am doing the NVQ Beauty Therapy level 2. As a comparison the A&P in my beauty course is no way near as complexed or as difficult as it was in the ITEC Massage course. I had to do the A&P again in beauty as the quualification board is VTCT and not ITEC. As CEH said it is worth checking out the colleges as some will run the A&P seperatly or as a combined unit with massage. I would highly recommend ITEC Holistic massagewith Anatomy & Physiology Level 3. i took this course at East berks college in Langley junction 5 on m4. I know Thames valley university (known as reading college) do run a seperate a&p course.
