I want to become a Massage Therapist, but I have been having some trouble with finding a school, and understanding the California state requirements for a certified Massage Therapist. The first school I checked out was ACI College. They offered a 36 week course (720 hours) for a tuition of 5,000 dollars. However when I was doing some research I discovered they were not accredited. So I looked up the next closest career college to offer the program. I came across Abrams College they offered a 18 week course (500 Hours) at a tuition of 2,500 dollars (about half the time and money). But they also were not accredited. My question is how can these colleges offer you a guaranteed certification or license in massage therapy if they are not accredited? When I was looking up the state requirements for a massage therapist it stated that you needed 250 hours from an accredited school. Do I have something wrong? Can I receive the certification I need from an unaccredited career college? Any answers or advice on the subject is greatly appreciated. Also if you have any tips on how to succeed in this profession I would like to hear them. Thank you for your time.
