massage course??

Can anyone advise me, I am wanting to refresh my massage skills. I did a massage course 13 years ago in Australia, and haven't been practicing massage (except family) for about 7 years. I do reiki and energy healing and would like to be able to incorporate massage as well, currently as I do not still have my massage certificate I can't be insured for massage, only reiki.
I am not sure what I need to look for in a course, what qualifications will I need to offer professional massages?

Two courses that spring to mid are VCTC and ITEC.

Whichever course you go for - try to find out what qualifications your teacher has and even better see if you can arrange to meet him/her before committing to a course. I've been reading some appalling posts of students having problems with tutors who are not qualified, or who just can't seem to teach.

I would also consider how best you learn/study/work

ITEC courses do have homework but they are a practical exam - assessed by ITEC and a multiple choice paper. with 20 hours of case studies (5 people x 4 treatments)

VTCT have contiuous assessment submitted in a portfolio, practical elements and I think a short test paper.

if you like working as you go along VTCT might be best for you and are motivated to meet self set dealdines.( it could be easy not to complete a VTCT course just because you still had portfolio work to do)

if you are an exam person , or not put off by them or need external deadlines - ITEC might suit you better.

The content of each seems fairly similar and they are both recognised for insurance .

Also if you want to study other disciplines - reflexology or aromatherapy for example with ITEC you will need to have completed their Anatomy and Physiology first.

Hi Devda i see where you live and might suggest your local college for Itec yes you wil need A&P but you may have this from Austrailia ffom your previous MAssage course ITEC equirev100 hours of which 17 must be suprevised VTec I;m not so sure about but in any event your llocal educatuion centre would be able to avise eving glasses or part time day course s are avaable in most areas.
