Massage and recreational drug use

Greetings,

I am seeking any information regarding specific recommendations or contraindications for massage if clients have been using the drug extacy as I have a few clients who use this drug recreationally, sometimes as recently as the night before a session. Thanks and Namaste...

i have seen chair massage offered at raves years ago in a major city. granted, it's not a full-on massage, but i've been told that those on X find the physical contact enhancing to their experience. i am pretty sure that those who were giving massage were mt's.

some mt's here in the states have said that they would not work on someone the day after the client had been on pain killers or muscle relaxers. i would, but that's me- my level of comfort, perception of liability, etc.

i assume you are from prague. i am not familiar with what your legal liability would be in your country.

i am sure the ultra-conservatives would say do not work on anyone who has been exposed to a psychotropic drug or hallucinagin (sp) within 24-48 hours....

Prague is a beautiful city lacking only in qualified massage therapists. I am a licensed (Florida) thereapist living and working in Prague and always enjoy meeting other thereapists for deep tissue massage trade or conversation. I periodically visit London and Brighton, UK and would be happy to arrange a trade there somtime as well.

I've worked on clients who have been on muscle relaxants. Sometimes it is beneficial when giving the massage and sometimes it is not.

My preference is for the client to be "clean". I know people do their own thing and all, and that we never really can know all of our clients' whims. But, I have noticed that the clients I've had who have outwardly showed signs of over-medicating and/or illicit drug habits are ones who I don't quite get along with in a therapist-client relationship anyway. They generally end up going to another therapist or being referred out quickly anyway.
