Making specific blends for clients

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can clear up some confusion I have in my mind. I have recently had some bath melts lab tested so I can sell them on to the public and have discussed regulations etc with my local trading standards office. As I know if I want to sell to the public, the product made has to be tested, however I'm under the impression that if I blend or make a product for a client, then that is ok to sell to him/her as it is all part of the profession. He has said he is unsure if this is exempt from the current regulations but is finding this out. Am I right in believing if I were to make a massage oil for a client and charge them for this it is ok?

Think I'm delving too far into this cosmetcis regulations business and it's completely bamboozling me!!!

As far as I am aware, you are right, Tracey. I have always made products for my own clients' home use. It is part of the treatment and I am insured as part of my therapy insurance. I always label the products with the ingredients (not the quantities though).

In answer to your question Tracey - I make and sell my own range of products and have had to have an extension on my insurance (paid extra) for selling products to clientsAND another to sell to non-clients. Insurances may differ but I would certainly check with your own provider.

You are soooo right - Cosmetic regulations are baffling -[sm=scratchchin.gif] it took me 9 months to do all the lead up to be able to sell and still it is like reading a foreign laguage! It is quite satisfying though when you see the finished product and have positive feedback from willing guinea pigs and paying clients.
