Lymphoma and massage question

A friend of mine had a massage last week and after she felt awful but also was vomiting quite a lot, now my friend had lymphoma and she wonders if because of this her body and her lymph glands cannot take a deep massage. ANyone know or have experience?

Sorry, I'm not sure if you meant she only realised she had lymphoma after the massage treatment, which of course, is unfortunate. Presumably if she knew beforehand, she would have disclosed this to the therapist.

But any kind of massage to anyone with any type of cancer should only be carried out by someone with specialist training, and then only with her doctor's approval as there could be other blood issues, such as low platelet count which can lead to bruising. And no, she should not have had any deep tissue treatment, but as I said, this was unfortunate, if she hadn't yet been diagnosed.

Sorry I should have said she has been in remission for 10 years now.

After ten years of remission, she would have been considered to be 'all clear', and assuming that she had had no other surgery, such as lymph node removal, her lymphatic system should be working normally.

However, vomiting can be considered to be a healing crisis after treatment, albeit an extreme one, as the body attempts to eliminate toxins. Or of course, she just could have, coincidentally, been unwell.

She could try MLD, with a fully qualified specialist therapist, which is much gentler on the system - deep tissue work can be too aggressive, especially with her history.

Talking to her more she did go in the sauna 10 mins after and I wondered if this may have caused the vomiting? She said she felt so ill all day.
