Every month, the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center’s Human Services team — Berta Derman and Dana Tassos — put together a Health and Wellness Chat. The chat is an opportunity to listen to a presentation and learn more about a wide range of topics.
We have had speakers talk about sleep, low vision, dry skin and eating “bugetarian.” This month, the topic is massage. Cindy Gellinger, LMT, CMLDT, who provides massages at the center, will present the known and lesser-known benefits of massage at the chat, which scheduled for 10 a.m. June 22.
We all know massage is relaxing, but did you know that it provides other health benefits, such as increased circulation? Gellinger will share how massage can increase energy levels and overall vitality, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and aid oxygen getting to the muscles and other cells of the body.
Gellinger specializes in oncology massage and lymphatic drainage therapy, and she’ll also talk about her practice during the chat.
Many of us think of massage as a treat, a time to be pampered. But it is so much more than thatw. Massage has healing attributes, helps alleviate pain, reduce stress and boost your mood. Come listen and learn more about the power of massage.
Derman and Tassos are working hard to continue offering speakers on health and wellness. Each month is different, so check our newsletter for future speakers.
The lunch menu this week features barbecue chicken salad on Friday, Southern tilapia on Monday and African sweet potato stew on Wednesday. Cost is a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and over and $5 for everyone else.
The LOACC is located at 505 G Ave., Lake Oswego, OR 97034. A list of activities and support groups can be found on our website, loacc.info, under the Calendar banner.
