Job Doubts

Hi there, im looking for some reassurance and feedback from anyone who works in this environment.

I have been a self employed Therapist for a couple of years (massage, reflex, IHM, aroma)and have been building up a client base which is growing steadily but thought I would apply for a part-time therapy job for 1 day a week. Its in a salon that is for Male clients, there is a hairdressers at the front leading through to a therapy room. The trouble is (im female by the way) Im a bit nervous about treating male clients, I do treat men but this is by recommendation only. I wouldnt ever be on my own at the salon but im still worried about safety and if I get someone who is a bit dodgy.......

Will the clients be the same as the ones who use the hairdressers - will they know a bit about the clients, or could they be anyone that just calls in?

IMHO if you're nervous about treating male clients & have only treated men by recommendation I'm not sure this is quite the right place for you at the present moment.

Some years ago I worked in a small spa-salon in a town centre. There were beauty therapists and comp therapists, plus, downstairs a hair dressers. I treated both female and male clients (remedial massage) and felt happy and secure with all of them. If youact ina professional manner, I think it is reflected in the way that the clients react to you. When I first started out (nearly 30 years ago) I did have two 'dodgy' moments - both of which were 'sorted' when I explained that if they required 'extras' then they should visit the relevant professional. Both men became regular clients, as they really only wanted their backs sorted out in the first place - they just assumed that 'extras' were part of the treatment!!! I am now 50 and over all that - far too old and long in the tooth to put up with any nonsense!!! Good luck - andI hope you enjoy working with others.

FB the clients could be seperate to the hairdressers.

I have decided I will give it a go and if I dont enjoy it or im not comfortable I can leave. I will go through the client consultation and I have a smart appearance so that shows I am proffesional.
