I came across this stuff because of Japanese Hot Stone Massage. Shogo Mochizuki used to run a school for Kobido: Japanese Facial Massage &hot stone massage and other Japanese massage techniques. They trained lots of people, published books and made videos. The videos and books are very well done, though the videos assume you have the book for the in depth info, so the videos are just demonstrations, done slowly then at full speed, but without the why you do it that way - that's all in the companion book. The seemed to close quite suddenly, but I read somewhere some master in Japan had died and the position was given to Shogo Mochizuki, so he just closed and went back to Japan - not sure how true that is, but it's the only explanation I've seen as to why they disappeared.
Since then, there seem to be quite a lot of people teaching it that have just seen the videos, or videos & book, or come from some other lineage.... I've been comfortable picking up stuff off teh hot stone massage videos with the book, but the kobido technique is another matter - in his Advanced video, he repeats, "don't expect to get this to be as smooth as it should for at least 7 years" It's very very Japanese (funny about that), so the whole long time to learn, various levels of mastery etc, is all in there. The main thing the videos did for me was they made me happy to go back to Ayurvedic facial techniques.
Not sure about golden spoon massage.
