JACKSON — A strip mall on Eagle Drive in Jackson is a total loss following a fire that occurred late Saturday evening.
According to the release from the Jackson Fire Department (JFD), firefighters were requested to a fire on Saturday just after 11 p.m. When the first fire units arrived, heavy fire was found in the back of the structure.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire on the outside of the building and kept it from going into the attic. Next, firefighters moved inside, put it out and checked for hot spots. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries at the fire.
After investigating the fire, there was substantial fire damage to the inside of the unit where the fire started, in the Desire to Inspire Salon. The adjoining units, including Shear Convenience beauty salon, Good Karma Massage Therapy, and Commercial Property Consultants, also sustained significant water and smoke damage.
According to Desire to Inspire owner Sara Dornbrook, the community has already begun support actions to those affected by the fire.

“We have had amazing support from the community,” Dornbrook said. “I’ve received hundreds of messages and some support given to our GoFundMe, so that has been a been a blessing and has helped a little bit so far.”
According to Dornbrook, while the building is considered a total loss, there are hopes to rebuild the property in the future, as the property was insured.
“We are planning on rebuilding here,” Dornbrook said. “It was a total loss, but the building didn’t completely burn to the ground, so we can rebuild.”
The fire is under investigation with no cause determined at this time. There were no occupants in any of the businesses at the time of the fire.
