Is it ok for a man to massage his adult daughters?

Is it ok for a man to give "whole body" massages to his adult daughters? He rubs thighs, calves, feet, face, shoulder, etc. They wear gym shorts and a bra and use a sheet. He is not a professional masseuse. He is just doing it for fun.

you don't need to take classes or get a peice of paper to be a professional level masseuse.

Heck, there is a nun in our area who goes to the local minor league baseball staduim whenever there are games and gives massages, and never was professionally trained. Heck, she goes to colleges and teaches people how to give non-sexual massages.

So, taking the fact that this adult male may be quite knowledgable on massages, it is very reasonable that he'd give them to his family...just like a professional masseuse might.

The key is if he is massaging their buttocks, inner thighs, or breasts.

outer/lower thighs, midleg, calf, foot, face, shoulder arm, neck, back, forearm, hand, etc those are all legitemate massages that are 99.9% of the time non-sexual.

The only thing that make a massage 'inappropriate' is the INTENT of the person giving it or those of the person receiving the massage.


If she's has no problems with her father giving her a massage and there's is no underlining perverse intentions on his or her part, then why wouldn't it be O.K. for a loving father to share with his daughter the healing power of a massage.

It's very clear that the majority of people truly don't understand the holistic essence of giving a massage and that it should be as rewarding(fun) for the giver as it is for the receiver, or there will not be the proper exchange of healing energy.

If the giver isn't enjoying it, then all the giver is doing is projecting their discomfort onto the receiver and taking away from the preexisting well-being that the receiver has left : literally sapping the energy from the person receiving the massage. The giver is to use their well intentioned balanced energy to support, realign & balance the energy of the receiver.

...........So, without just cause, don't get in the habit of projecting your fears or phobias on other peoples.

I find it a bit creepy and would probably not be comfortable with my dad massaging me, but maybe they are very close knit and it isn't an issue to them. The girls are adults, so they are able to say something if not appropriate.

If he were an actual professional masage therapist I would see nothing wrong with it; I go and get massaged by liscenced therapists several times a month and I think massage is very healthy and healing to the body. I'm not sure if I like this though, it seems a bit weird. My dad never used to do that to me, I would rub his shoulders for him when I was little and rub alcohol on his back but that was about it. Some families are super hippyish, it might not have any sexual connotation at all; in Gainesville Florida where I am from, that sort of thing happens all the time

I would say only you know IF you feel comfortable w/it. If it's done as you've explained, I don't see how there could be anything wrong w/it. But only YOU can ans. that question. I'm SURE you would know or "feel" if it was not the rite thing to do. Also, is your mother OK w/him doing this?...best to you...

Of course it's OK. I am sure it is not sexual. He's an adult and so are they and massage is not a sexual thing unless you deliberately add sex to it.

I had many massages after a very bad injury about 2 years ago. It helped to heal me. There was not one sexual thing about it. It is about relaxing and healing the body.

I am a professional massage therapist, so I think I might have a good answer.

Massage is very beneficial to the body, and for many people, is greatly misunderstood as nothing more than a display of affection. What I would say in this case is as long as the intention of the massage is just therapeutic and does not lead to anything sexual, then there is nothing wrong with it.

I would say this man may consider getting into massage school if he is doing it just for the love of the art. I got started in a similar way.
