The answer is both yes and no depending on what it's being used for...we introduce bacteria to new environments on a constant basis. Waste treatment plants use bacteria to help decompose waste materials. They are also introduction into food production.

There's actually a concept called bioremediation. You should look into it.

Sometimes we introduce bacteria into new environment and they are proved useful but it can also be dangerous in some situations.
