As a kid, I was taught to capitalize the 1st word of a sentence & "I." (cursive writing, 2). I took a Jr. high elective class on typing using PCs w/ the green GUI while also growing up w/ typewriters. U gotta b nostalgic over louder keystrokes & the ping it makes when u "return" & type a gnu line. & 2 transfer from Bakersfield Coll. to Cal State Northridge, I had to take 3 uneasy English courses - the 1st 2 learning how to properly use commas & semicolons. I aspire 2 become a teacher but I'm 2 broke 2 finish college & earn my certificate. Anyways, I somehow dread web-surfing because I encounter numerous grammatical errors such as using ellipses instead of commas. & semicolons are used as winking emoticon eyes. (& yes, it does seem hypocritical of me using certain letters & numerals here, but I guess every 2nd of typing does count; using homonyms like "gnu" is actually just my thing. But the 2nd thing I want 2 make aware is cursive writing. If everybody's typin' & textin', is there any need 2 write cursively? Will that just be reduced to signatures & calligraphy? I do have 2 b aware that there are other languages like Arabic, Korean, & Tamil that don't use letters & it's pretty much an art form to write. Incidentally, please don't heavily criticize my typing; @ least when u read it aloud, phonetically, u won't notice. That's y I h8 "ur" & "lol" 'cause I will read it out loud & say "err" & "loll." But seriously, is texting & the Internet messing up the written word? & is cursive writin' doomed?
paapaa, you do make an excellent point. Of course, my concern is over the written word rather than the spoken word.
