Infection during massage.

Hi, is it possible to pick up infection of viruses, etc through massaging someone who had a scab, which may or may not have been weeping?

I tried surfing the web, but with there being so much unreliable info out there..............

Anything is possible but unless the person you were treating had a communicable disease, which would contraindicate them, then you should not have a problem, apart from that, the lotion/oil tends to work as a barrier.

Weeping scabs are a definite area to avoid for massage. You certainly can pick up things like cold sores/shingles/impetigo/etc from massaging, just as cold sores can be spread by using the same lip gloss etc These are all communicable diseases and as such are contraindications, but since you've mentioned skin borne viruses, I'm not really sure what you could be concerned about other than communicable diseases. The oil/lotion acts as a barrier for some things, but not all.

Hi, if i notice anything unusual, i ask the person about it, i either avoid the area all together, or rebook the client in for a later date.
