I'm now an Injury Prevention Massage trainer!

I'm so excited!! I am really pleased to let you guys be some of the first to know, I am now an official Training Centre for Injury Prevention Massage in the Midlands.

I started my massage career six years ago and and for the last four have been using Zero-Strain massage techniques in my practice almost exclusively. Ever since I qualified I have had a dream of one day running my own training courses and sharing the knowledge and power of touch with others. And now I have that chance!

I'm just really excited about it and can't wait to run my first training weekend! Just wanted to share.

The majority of the strokes / techniques are very similar, and will be familiar to anyone who has done No Hands training or work. There are some differences though, IPM doesn't focus on the 7 Postural Principles / Secrets. Yes they are all used, the strokes start from being grounded (Sole), we use our body, the clients body and the table for support (Support), and we use use correct body positioning when required for strokes (Kneeling) and we use the engine to power our strokes (Shire Horse) etc etc. But they aren't called these, or referred to as such.

For me one of the big differences is how we use the techniques and help others to use the techniques - through integration. It's only natural that as therapists become more experienced they pick up fave strokes, ways of working, new techniques. One of the things I have always done with my massage since qualifying 6 years ago is integrate all the different strokes and modalities together.

Through using IPM / No Hands techniques we can save our thumbs and wrists for the times we (or our clients) really need them. If you have an injury we can show you how to massage without using your thumbs and wrists, or if your injury free we can show you how to prolong your career and save them for when you need them.

A core belief of my training is that you should be able to take any of the techniques and strokes I show you in a course and apply them to any massage you do once you have completed it. And you should have the confidence that you can use any number of the strokes in your own routines and treatments as you see fit.

And of course I hope it is above all fun and informative. As all training should be.
