If you can resist buying the girls drinks, I recommend Alcazar, Calle 0 and Av 7. Close to the gulch, any Taxi should get you there and an honest one will get you there for the minimum (under $1). $3 a drink for you and the girls are often quite attractive. Nice interior too, more spacious than Le Grillon, also a lower entry fee and I've never had them try to gyp me.

IMO, Elite on Paseo Colon has the best girls but man what a clip joint. If you have the discipline not to buy the girls drinks, it's actually a nice place to enjoy the scenery for an hour.

I would also second the opinion that you'll be safe inside. I haven't really found anyplace in San Jose where I haven't felt safe INSIDE. Outside is another story. But I have never run into problems with Ticos inside bars, other than the occasional Tico who wants to practice his English, drunk, inside a loud bar.

Want to check out some strip clubs this time and thanks to another poster for posting the back room fees. Now, I have done my reading here but I just want to clarify. Are PAntera Rose and Kamur ones that charge a cover and then give 2-3 drink tickets? I kind of remember reading the pantera rose was no cover. Now, what are the girls drink prices in these places and what is the price of the private dance sin sexo. If anyone can link me to where this has been covered I would appreciate it.
