trigger points or is that dangerous? I have had problems with my neck and upper shoulders for a while (even before I found out I was pregnant). Before I was pregnant I would self-massage the trigger points in my neck and top of my shoulders and it helped alot. I am only 7 weeks pregnant and recently read that massage during the first trimester is a no no. I also read that not to put any pressure when you do get a massage.
My neck overall has been alot better since I was getting physical therapy, but I no longer have that option. My physical therapist told me that I have a spasm in my upper shoulder. I hurt my neck yesterday and it is killing me. It tried a heating pad, ice pack, bengay, tylenol, etc and they only help slightly.
Can I continue to self- massage my neck and shoulders like before or is it too dangerous right now? And how much pressure is allowed to massage trigger points? Can a massage in early pregnancy really cause a miscarriage or do they mean like a deep tissue massage when they refer to getting a massage and it being a no no.
My OB doctor is hard to reach for advice and when I call on MOnday I probably won't hear back till Tuesday.
Thanks for any advice.
