While my husband was giving me a massage yesterday, I got wondering if anyone hates friction as much as I do? I always seem to have an abnormal reaction to it- after only a few seconds of friction, my skin goes beyond just getting red and hot and puffs up at an alarming rate and burns and itches almost like they were rubbing me with poison ivy. Sometimes I can't bear to have the spot touched again because it's simply too irritated and have had to ask for an ice pack a few times. Sometimes it lasts for just a few minutes, sometimes I can still feel it long after the massage ends. I'm fine with deeper, non-gliding friction and occasionally do ok with gliding friction if it's very short and there's a lot of lotion/oil on my skin at the time (in other words, not much friction at all!)
Has anyone else experienced this or seen it happen to a client?
