I've seen photos of styles where draping is the tiniest little folded washcloth covering the butt crack or genitals. Like I've said elsewhere, I tend to use fairly conservative draping, so I wonder...

How do you get that in place without the person being exposed to begin with?

How do you turn them from prone to supine or vice versa?

The only place I have seen photos with this kind of draping were in Spa training books teaching mud or clay wraps. They were probably for demo purposes.

If you're worried about doing this kind of draping you probably ought to stick with a full sheet. Or, as Breathe said, don't bother.

There's some interesting examples out there, a few of them that scream complicated, bunched up, and messy, and some that fall into the why bother category.

There's a few on there that I swear - if someone sneezed in the hallway, I think they'd go flying off LOL (washcloths folded into quarters, covering just the females nipples.)

I don't know that the little towel is absurd. I'd definitely be comfortable receiving massage with the little towel, but I would be very hesitant to get fully nude when supine.

Is the draping functional, or is it there just to "cover the bases"? In mud wraps that kind of draping has a function. In massage I see no point to that kind of draping except to see how minimal we can make draping and still claim draping is there.

The guideline I use is simple, it all comes down to the comfort of the client as long as it remains within the ethical and moral boundaries of the practitioner.

How I manage a minimal draping situation is by using one of the following two methods.

-use a sarong for draping and just fold it down to cover the butt crack and with the excess down between the legs. Just unfold to cover when turning over.

-Use a sarong to cover initially, then use a folded handtowel, hold one end and reach up under the drape from between the legs to place it. You can now remove the sarong, then replace for turning.
You should tell the client what you are doing and also ensure that you keep your hand elevated above body level under the drape untill you are in position to place the towel. Done correctly it is a lot less intrusive than it might sound

Thanks Jeff! That is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.

Tell me if I've got this right - For the second method, you hold the top end of the handtowel, reach up under the drape from below and place the top end of the folded towel above the butt crack/genitals so the towel covers the essentials. Then remove the sarong drape.

Yes thats right joshua, You can just grab the centre of the sarong and pick it up.
Practise on someone who is comfortable with this first.
Oh yes, replace the sarong and remove the towel before turning over then redoo the towel.
