how should i introduce a young male rat to and older male rat?

i just bought a very young male rat today to have as a buddy for my older rat. he has never shown signs of aggression but my younger one is kind of skiddish. i bought him a smaller cage for now because my new one is too small for the cage i have my older rat in. but any suggestions as to wha age tey should be to get along or where and how to introduce em. i do not want them to fight. so any tips would help. im new to rat owning.
