I read in a magazine somewheres a long time ago along with a list of ways to burn 100 calories, it mentioned "Give someone a massage for 20 minutes." I have used that rough estimate to figure a full hour of massage is about 300 kcal/hr. This becomes important when you want to balance out your caloric intake compared to your energy requirements for the day or week. When the day goes extra long with too many hours of massage, I don't feel bad about some quick high-sugar energy to get me through the day. However, when the slower weeks come along, I am much more conscious about the amount of calories during the day so I am not "banking" too much.
