How can I make fragrance oils?

This is how I had the difference of essential oils and fragrance oils explained to me at a place like The Body Shop:

Essential oils--100% pure, from the product, many uses, including burning.
Fragrance oils--Not 100% pure, can have a mixture (Apple Basil) and is used for burning only.

OK, so I want to make my own fragrance oils. The wonderful one I purchased from The Body Shop is called "Lemon Basil". Let's say I wanted to make that. I am assuming--and please correct me if I am wrong--that this is not simply Lemon EO and Basil EO mixed together. Is there an oil base, and, if so, what you recommend that would be good for burning?

Also, if the "fragrance oils" that are sold in the store are not, as it was explained to me, only for burning (and yet the label says "Not a cosmetic") what else could they possibly be used for?

Hi Nate

To make a fragrance oil you blend them but insted of blending with a carrier oil use Rose water, orange water ect.

Fragance oils bought from shops I wouldn't recommend using them for massage or anything else as they maybe artifical and contain chemicals.

I was taught that when buying pure essential oils to look for botanical name, country of origin, and thebest before date or date it was bottled.

Even just vaporising the oils can have an effect of a person, I had a friend who was pregnant and wanted some oils blending for her boyfriend, so had gone and bought the oils and was bringing them to me for blending. One of the oils which she was bringing was rosemary, which is a simulant. By the time she got to me she was having badstomache cramps as if she was in labour, but was only 2 month gone. She had only been sat on the bus sniffing the rosemary.
We had always been told at college at inhaling them does just as good as applying them to the skin. But being told it and actually seeing it is 2 different things, and until this happened I guess I'd always doubted abit. Well not no more.

I can recommend this course as I went on it last April and got a lot from it regarding making perfumes, also I really enjoyed the day, it was a lot of fun using essential, oils, absolutes, attars that I hadn't used before.
