Help with client - several burns and deep tissue

Hi everybody!

Hope you can help:
I had a client today who was burnt by boiling hot water when he was just 3 years old and now as mature male he's got the scar tissue and several damage to his skin on the side of his trunk from hip and abdomen all the way up his arm. This is quite painful to him when he tries to strech his arm as the skin on his lower abdomen tightens. He also goes regularly to the gym and this becomes quite painful.

Any suggestion if massage can help in any way would be appreciated.

... and also...
he likes deep tissue massage done on his back - mostly upper part. I usually don't have a problem with this, but he's really strong and even when I use my elbows+forearms+bodyweight it seems that it's not strong enough... what do you think I should try next?

I wonder if Vitamin E would help at this stage? I once read of a study where Vitamin E oil was used on burns and it was shown to reduce scarring, but this was applied closer to the time of the injury. Maybe worth trying both as a massage oil and taken orally?

Hi, I was recommended Bio Oil by an aromatherapist on this site for scar tissue and found that it made quite a difference when used over a long period of time on a daily basis. My daughter had raised scar tissue and this really reduced it in about 2 months. It also made the skin much more flexible. There may be some posts on the forum if you do a search.

there is also evidence that myofascial release works with old and stubborn scars, one of my clients has scald scars on chest and arms, I have been using quite gentle release and found a great improvement in posture that was previously very round shouldered and elevated. improvements also to "feeling" in the area as reported by client.
I have previously used bio oil on my operation scars with good effect,

Maybe silly question... Bio oil - do you use it as massage oil or internally?
If for massage I'll definitely buy some and will use it! Does Holland and Barrat sell it?

Also will have a look at that myofascial release works - was taught this long time ago but never actually used it...

Any help with that deep tissue would be also helpful... I'm not sure if I need to work on myself - build some more muscles... The next day - well today - was suffering with pain in my shoulder area all the way down my arm. Couldn't even lift it! Probably pulled a muscle or something. Silly me!!!

oh, and gonna tell my boyfriend about that bio oil too... He had an accident year ago and his leg is still mess!!! I think this will help him greatly!!!

Use it externally and on healed tissue only, not broken.
The cheapest place is Superdrug, or online.

For sore skin or open wounds use calendula cream or aloe vera gel until healed, then use Bio Oil.
